Dreams Movie

During our trip, we were given the opportunity to learn about Masai traditions that have stood the test of time, surviving many centuries. Masai dances were common and involved colorful long attire. We also learned about the Masai rituals of hunting a lion in order to signify a boy's transition to manhood. Though the Masai value many ancient traditions, they understand the importance of education in the modern world and are very appreciative of our efforts. |
This picture is a behind the scenes shot of our campaign video called Dreams. The video captures how the many ambitious dreams of the African youth simply fade away instead of turning into a reality. It shows how kids with potential simply are not given the opportunities and tools necessary to achieve their dreams. The video ends on a happier note showing how education, specifically the building of the Mutanda High School, has helped a kid achieve his dreams. This video is also a huge thank you to all those who have donated to our first project!

We got to experience the opening ceremony of Mutanda High School, which we helped fund by building a classroom. The ceremony was very festive, involving a lots of dancing and passionate speeches. At the opening ceremony, many politicians attended, for example one of the men in the Kenya Department of Education was in attendance. Listening to speeches from parents of students really showed us how appreciative they were of the our efforts. Additionally, we gave speeches inspiring the kids to achieve their dreams. |
